GSC isn’t shit. Shit is a game like SWSH where you can essentially catch your endgame team and brainlessly grind in the wild area before you even get your first badge. That’s just poor game design. The wild area should have been locked behind later badges.

He's not wrong. Pokemon LGEP was such a bone bare game and yet audiences it up. You could make the level curve and remove more pokemon, it doesn't matter they will eat it up because Johto hasn't gotten a game in near decade.

I say it's bad enough since there is a lack of progression in the gym leaders. After beating Whitney the gym leaders from Morty until Clair feels pretty weak.

It would break the game if you could get Houndour and Larvitar early. Murkrow isn’t powerful, but it has two immunities. You can catch Houndour and Murkrow right before you battle Sabrina and Erika in the postgame, so they’re placed in an appropriate spot.

Gen 1 giving you the option of getting a Dratini halfway through the game was great because it introduced a risk/reward and hard work aspect. You could gamble for one or take your time to get one from the Safari zone. Either way you'd need to spend time and grind to raise him. Its a fun way of doing it that makes you feel like you accomplished something and nets you a reward. Getting Larvitar halfway through Johto would've been a nice option

You can still get a Dratini from the Goldenrod game corner in GS if you want to do that. Larvitar is a reward you get for making it to Mt. Silver in GS. Crystal gives you a Dratini in Blackthorn, and you can acquire a Larvitar from the Celadon game corner as soon as you reach Kanto.
