Doesn't look like the numbers have changed all too much when I did my own research ages ago, except for gen 6 overtaking gen 5 and I have a hunch on which Pokemon contributed the most

Gen 2 had Espeon and Umbreon.

nta but I dont get it. With other lewded animals there's some reason behind it. Cats and Dogs have familiarlity due to being common pets, Wolfves are pretty much are dogs, Rabbits breed like..rabbits. What's do mustelds have to put them above other mammals?

Looking at the rate of increase is more interesting if you ask me. It's generally going up with each new gen. Really lays bare how unsexy gen 2 was though.

It's pics per year. Just the number of pics divided by the years since release. Or the rate of increase by gen.
If I were slightly less lazy I'd use these numbers to determine which gen would be the first to surpass gen 1 but eh.

i dont think ppy means much, pokemon get a bunch fanart when they're first introduced then slow down. here's 2023-2024 on e6 and gen 1 mogs everything. op's pic is from tbib which takes images from from multiple different boorus.
