Save yourself the insanity and at the very least go and get yourself an Old Rod and fish up Magikarp yourself because if you do that at least you can also farm Meowth Pickup items so the time isn't that much of a waste.
I probably have enough berries at this point to max out my Powder Jar.

That's why I think it won't be Mew, because I think they want to give more of an incentive for people to pick up the other GBA Pokemon games when they release eventually. Cutting Mew out of it will at least curb some from picking it up.

FRLG is a bit more complex. Home only lets you withdraw from the game, so they'd need to make a special exception. Mew will be catchable in Emerald, so we won't need it here.
I'd say FRLG is Celebi and RSE is Jirachi, maybe not even shiny. They need a way to make them available in the new Gen 3 ecosystem. Other solutions are to either make new mystery events (too much work, unlikely) or unceremoniously drop them in your boxes at a certain point.

Hoopa's the DLC mascot and the shiny wasn't released yet. Makes perfect sense to me.
I think there's also a case for Marshadow. Zeraora is debuting in GO this summer, so it might be too soon to release the shiny for Alola Tour in February. The only other Alola mythical they could use is Marshadow, who still needs a mainline debut.
Thought this was worth mentioning after how Meloetta was handled. Shortly after we got the Home reward, it was announced for Unova Tour.
