If you want trade evolutions in the DS games, you can use it and the 3DS to trade evolve the Pokemon you want because the 3DS can not only run DS games with no issues, but it can also interact with other DS' for local multiplayer.
If you want trade evolutions in the 3DS games, they all have FREE online functionality, meaning you can still trade evolve Pokemon by using the internet.
This even applies to the original DS and the GBA because the original DS can run GBA games and can use the GBA Link Cable that's included with FRLG, meaning you can reasonably trade evolve in gen 3 with a DS and a GBA.
If you're a zoomer like me, it'd be understandable if you didn't have Colosseum or Gale of Darkness, but there isn't a Pokemon in those games that you can't get in gen 3 or gen 4, so that doesn't really count.
Wait, what were we talking about again? Oh yeah, there are a bunch of unique Pokemon that you can catch in HGSS like Lapras in Union Cave, Steelix in Cliff Cave, Ekans and Dratini in Goldenrod and that's to say nothing of the shit you can find the Johto Safari Zone. If you want a good team, you should actually fucking work for it instead of being upset that it wasn't handed to you on a silver platter.
