For instance, if you get a row that says
4
(Voltorb) 1
That means there are four panels that add up to the number 4 and 1 panel is a Voltorb.
Of course, since the panels are only numbered 1, 2, or 3. That means all of the panels in that row are 1's and you can usually ignore these.
In the OP image you can see the one OP screwed up on:
3
(Voltorb) 2
This means there are three panels that row that add up to 3 and two panels are Voltorbs. Using that "scarier than a spooky skeleton with those thin controlling tentacles it wraps over skeletons and gave itself and skeletons a name" thing in your head, you should surmise that this row is three 1 panels and 2 voltorbs, meaning you can ignore this row entirely and search for panels that contain 2's or 3's. Like that one in the bottom that says:
5
(Voltorb) 1
OP however did not follow this, and payed the price.
This little crash course should be enough teach you how to grab yourself a Dratini before you even fight Whitney!
Kinda sucks though since Dratini has no good moves at the level you get one from the Casino, whoops!
