I truly believe that Gamefreak's own inability to prevent hacking took a lot of the depth and variety out of Pokemon. Back in Gen 5 when you could determine 3 of your IVs as well as your nature the games were perfect. This guaranteed each Pokemon was unique due to the sheer randomness of the stats. Nowadays you can have perfect IVs and everything, making the only difference between mons being the EVs, abilities, and movesets. Pokemon were never meant to have perfect 6 IVs, but this is what the games had to adapt to due to hackers always having the advantage.
I am by no means condemning hackers, the act of breeding can be super tedious and without hacking the building and testing of teams would never take a reasonable amount of time and effort. Unfortunately as long as transferring Pokemon exists there will never be a perfect scenario where Pokemon stats are still based on rng and so the games are doomed to always be the way that they are now.
TL;DR hacking ruined what made individual Pokemon unique but is a reasonable thing to do with the state of the games today.
