The only way to cope is to just forget about anything new and exclusively play the old games, buy merch of the old mon only, and just talk about older generations only. It's how I get by. Put the tragedies out of sight and out of mind. Move on while reminiscing about the good old days. It sucks, but it doesn't mean you have to abandon pokemon entirely.
Think of it like- you had a wonderful married life with your beautiful wife who died young while giving birth to your daughter, who seems to be growing up into an ungrateful, clueless, self-righteous, slutty, loser. You still love your awful child because she fleetingly reminds you of your beloved wife, and you know your wife would want you to care for your daughter. So out of solidarity and love for what once was, you make the best of what you have, and encourage her to make better decisions and hopefully emulate the beauty and grace that her mother once had.
It's ok OP, I felt your pain when swsh came out, and I still feel it from time to time. It hurts to see the things you love crumble to dust right between your fingertips. Right now I picked up a Fan-ROM of Crystal that I discovered through this board, and I'm having loads of fun with it. I encourage you to do something similar
