>>44698987Because from a production value perspective most non-pokemon monster games absolutely shits on Pokemon. Nexamon Extinction is Pokemon Black and White HD edition. World of Final Fantasy and Digimon Cyber Sluth is Pokemon Sword and Shield with higher quality animations. Monster Hunter Stories and Yokai Watch is Pokemon XY/SunMoon with better framerate.

About 9hrs in, Nexamon Extinction is decent. Battles are very "momentum" based, which means you and your opponent switch monsters out constantly to mitigate each others damage. The moment either of you get an upper hand and knocks the opposing side's monster you can get a another free hit which thus gives you momentum. The trick with this entire battle system is that each of your moves actually have their own speed stat.
First hour or two of the game is a slog, but not too bad afterwards. Creating/finding XP cores reduces grinding but you don't access to this until around 5-6 hours in. Global difficulty (wild mons and trainer fights) seem to readjust after each major story event. Starters are labeled "ultra rare" but can be found in the wild.
The big issue with the game and is probably the source of everyone's general grief with the Nexamon Extinction is the "economy" with respect to purchasing items is absolutely fucked. Healing items and Nexatraps (aka pokeballs) is 2-3 times higher in price than it should be. This means to keep yourself from going broke either you play conservatively item wise or grind on wild mons/trainers for money. Either method requires you to constantly go back to the healing center. Unironically the current "best" store to buy items from was the first vendor you meet in game. I basically bought 30 nexatraps and as many healing items I could from him before the story locks him out the first time you enter the Capital city.
