Gen IVis my favourite gen of them all.
(I'm 20, I have owned every main series game the year it has come out.)
I like a lot of the pokemons there: the reverse triangle with the starters allowed me to not have to grind a pokemon just to beat my rival (those memories of beating sceptile with swampert....) no need to grind another pokemon just for that. A fire/fighting that made a lot of fucking sense.
Luxray, awesome. Garchomp, fucking shark dragon. Only regional bird i liked...
Although not all the new evolutions/preevolutions were good, 2 out of my top 3 favourite eeveelutions. Fucking love Honchkrow. chingling, manene, FUCKING WEAVILE, an useful porygon, and fucking GALLADE
They tried to make postgame content longer and fun (that's why so many legendarie mons).
For the first time the "complete" edition actually felt different, and i enjoyed it a lot (pic related).
Poketech, best thing ever. Count steps to know about egg hatching, instant access to see what happens in the daycare, even coinflipping...
Team galactic, the most interesting team ever (use pokemon to gain money? Original beyond mesurement. Floodying/Drying the earth, really? Catching pokemon to make people not catch pokemon), Cyrus and Giovanny are tied as the best villains... But wanting to make your own universe is the greediest shit ever. Even the 3 generals had some personality to them, and skuntank made me hate them.
I actually was able to exchange pokemon with WiFi (friends didn't play)
Barry was the best rival. I am still pissed i can't play as him. He had knowledge, made me want to go deeper into the game, and when you team up with him, oh god, fucking amazing.
Although you have the shittiest male protagonist, you have the best designed female one (platinum)
And i kno there is some shitty mistakes, such as kriketune... But overall, they tried to make it a really good gen, and it gives me a closer feeling to that of the first gen than 3 and 5
