>There's absolutely nothing like Wigglytuff and Chatot in any of the Gen 1 through 4 gamesWigglytuff and Chatot is literally the most barebones "goofy/serious guy juxtaposed" you will see in every comedy routine ever made. Back in ancient Greece this concept had been played out. If you're so wowed by very basic storytelling conventions, I don't know what else to tell you.
I also don't know why you specified Gen 1-4 - but even then I think that Silver alone is a more complex character than almost anyone in PMD despite having the depth of a puddle. PMD also wastes 10000 times more text on its shitty characters and Final Fantasy magic systems to annoy the fuck out of you, it certainly did when I played it. Seriously 99% of PMD dialogue is
>character says X>partner repeats X>MC repeats X in their head>character reaffirms XRT is the least bad offender but it does it along with the rest.
>>53216416It absolutely is bad when the setting and tone of the game is "casual urban adventure". You know the series was built off of some guy's fascination with bug catching in the summer right? How does that translate logically into "cult madman tries to destroy emotions and the universe by summoning god"?
PMD is much the same way. What part of that setting translates into "the evil god of time is going to destroy reality unless you find the magic Time Gears which somehow repair time"? Pokemon just doesn't work with these kinds of stories, you can even tell when there's an assload of plot holes and retarded magic concepts getting pulled out of people's asses in real time. Take Kirby which also does the same thing but those games don't force you to listen to some faggot fanfiction to justify why you're murdering God or whatever. I'm frankly glad that PMD is dead and hope whatever the next game is where you play as a Pokemon doesn't fly off the hinges like Super PMD did
