The most competetive players just pokesavd because the system was fucking stupid.
People also pokesavd other dumb things like unique Pokemon, unique items and TMs that went away after one use.
Gamefreak changing all of that in recent games just shows that they admit that many things werent that great with the games before.
And its good because that shows that they dont mind fixing problems instaed of remaining stubborn like some other devs.
Only problem is that changes like that take them multiple generations.
