everyone in these threads always thinks too linearly, these are friends not pets. sure, i like some species so much more than others, but this is literally a case of forming bonds between friends that would ideally last a lifetime. for the sake of my own sanity i’ll leave the government and big business out of the hypothetical, and assume that a Pokémon League type of organization would be borne in which case i’d of course take the gym challenge, go as far as i reasonably can, and retire to a smaller town or village with my pokémon friends and just enjoy life while avoiding anything that looks like a villain team or protagonist
