>>53249353Okay, pardon my handwriting but I whipped this up to kind of illustrate my point.
>Left changes some elements of the design by adding or removing features. There are Maori style markings on the face, a small cassowary style crest, some additional "fluff" on the neck and legs, and sharper ends to the beaks and talons. This is clearly a Doduo that has adapted to a new environment, which caused it to change and become a new type in the process. By the logic of how GF retypes regionals, it would likely keep one of its current types and replace the other with Fighting >Dex Entry: "When humans settled Region X, they found a wilderness populated by large predatory Doduo that hunted the much smaller bird Pokemon of the island habitat. It seems the lack of competition allowed Doduo to become much more fearsome in Region X. While they were hunted mostly to extinction by wary humans, recent efforts have been successful at saving small extant populations." >Right is a convergent. The design changes are super minor, but it is clearly NOT a Doduo. There are some elements of the design that seem strange for a Doduo to have (like the segmented neck or the much smoother texture). It would also have a more significant and unusual texture/color change compared to the regional. It's also Fighting type, though nothing in its design really "cries" that it's Fighting (which is something Wiglett and Toedscool also share). However, its background and lore would likely produce an explanation for some unrelated creature that is or was Fighting type evolving to have a similar body plan to Doduo.>Dex Entry: "It lives high atop mountains and uses its long legs to dash quickly along rugged paths. It uses the heads to strike hard rocks and attack its prey, but no trainer has actually witnessed the beaks eating what it catches. Scientists speculate the heads may actually be its arms, while the real Pokemon sits inside the sphere, but nobody knows for sure."
