>>36593782I was in a rush so I wasn't explicit enough and forgot to leave a couple of details out, sorry. I think the first town should be more interesting. It has a Pokemon center, two identical houses and what seems like the lab but with... generic house design? Snore. The starting town should become somewhat symbolic of the region. Can't say much else about that. The town I posted is the definition of /cozy/ so if you can recreate something like that but in your own style, you'll be good.
Woops. My bad. A Rock Smash, if it's the early badge is fine. I don't like the HM or blocking routes with boulders hence my dislike for them. The lake could use work, but I have no ideas to help you with.
Route 2 with objects is good! Mode modders should make maps like these to help themselves with, it improves quality in the long run. IDK how you feel about dowsing and treasure hunts, but I'd hide some small items like potions in the maze woods. I feel good whenever I investigate an block between two trees and find something useful, but not game changing (attack boosting items for example should be placed in special places or as overworld items).
The layout for the second town is fine, again I just hope there will be some interesting landmark or fun thing to do in there.
Now that I think about it, FRLG's pallet town was boring. All of them were. The nostalgia factor and the clear purpose of all the buildings makes it fine. Viridian City would make a much better base for hack starter towns imo. Replace the Gym with the Pokemon Lab. If you don't want a center or a mart, the rest of the buildings could have some useful side-quests or uses later on in the game.
