>Fighting Type
Fighting type is closely related to the normal type: they are like normal types who can put greater strength into their moves, giving them the ability to take on tough pokémon such as rock types. Most fighting types have their own styles of fighting, and their attacks consist of punches, kicks, throws. Quite similar to normal type attacks in nature but stronger. I consider normal and fighting to be sister types.
>super effective over normal
Of course, since normals have no elemental attachment, the only thing that could give them a proper beatdown are just STRONG attacks. Like a body slam, but with double the force, and that's where Fighties excel at.
>super effective over rock, steel and ice
Fighting type's absurd strength allows them to easily hit, break, bend and pierce sturdy minerals. Even more effective against frozen water (ice).
>super effective against dark
Dark types are defined by playing dirty, doing cheap moves and having a villainous role. Of course, once their trickery fails, they are no match against actual strength provided by the Fighters. A cheap bite or crunch has no chance against a well-placed punch to the face. Fighting types play a super-hero themed role in contrast to Dark's villainous theme.
>resists and resisted by bug
A tricky matchup, but it may be based on the fact that bugs have tough exoeskeletons that punches can't break through, and at the same time, bugs can't muster enough strength to attack the much bigger and sturdier fighting types. You know when a person meets a bug 200x smaller than him/her but is immediately afraid (even though he/she could easily kill the bug). May be a play on the saying "he's more scared of you than you of him.
