>>49241188I agree with this entirely. Mons became more relevant bc of their Megas and this would have been the same case. A regional could still happen but it wouldn't "be the same." I remember my idea way back for Mega Dewgong was something wacky but fitting too that played up Encore abuse. It got a huge physical Attack boost, buffed defenses, buffed Speed, and then Prankster so it could utilize its better physical movepool while also running semi permanent priority movesets with Ice Shard and Fake Out plus the load of good status moves it has (Encore, Sub, Rest, Hail/Rain, Swagger, Stockpile/Swallow, Disable, Aqua Ring, Safeguard...). It also gets Belch which I don't think a lot of people know.
What's kind of sad looking at it now tho is it's one of those mons that just got left behind. It's movepool lacks a lot of the newer moves even despite it being available up through Gen 7/LGPE, so it feels like it isn't up to its full potential. Doesn't even get Freeze Dry. It would also be fun for it to get moves like Soak , Life Dew or some playful appropriately seal-like Fairy moves (Play Rough, Charm, Baby Doll Eyes), esp in my hypothetical Mega Dewgong scenario. And if this fucker got Aurora Veil (which it should) then that hypothetical Prankster Mega Dewgong would jump to OU in a heartbeat. Such a shame this thing is just going to rot in hell and get rolled out only whenever KAAAANTO pandering comes back around.
