That said, it's based on a water-dwelling invertebrae, has an otherwise water-exclusive ability, and its pre-evo can't walk on land. It is a honorary Water-type the same way Flygon is honorary bug and flying, and Groudon is honorary fire. The games allow such thematic fits on typed teams (Lance's Aerodactyl, etc.), so Armaldo should pass all right.
