which would not be a problem if 1: there was a (mostly finished) english walkthrough at the time so I knew what to expect, and 2: if there wasn't a fucking point of no return, my absolute most hated RPG cliche because of softlock potential
someone who picked up the save managed to get past it (exact method is probably not important) but then he got hard walled by the level 60-something mewtwo-x (imagine a regular mewtwo, but with protean and 5x-6x its regular HP) immediately afterwards
