>>38775899"Rhydon is based on a generic Kaiju. It's a vaguely saurian monster with a drill for a horn, it's really not unlike some b-grade Godzilla baddies like Megalon or Baragon.
While Gen 1 designs can get away with simple concepts, the gen 4 mons have to have a bit more to them to make them stand out. They took the defining features of Rhydon and ran with it. It's a monster that destroys, that has a power-tool horn. As such, Rhyperior embodies a destruction and tool theme. It still has the drill-horn, though even bigger, but now It also has a wrecking ball for a tail, its arms look like hammers, its armour is arranged like a high-vis jacket/bomb vest and a set of noise cancelling ear muffs - It's a one-man demolition crew.
It's a creature that has evolved specifically to destroy things in the most effective manner possible. The way a Rhydon would realistically evolve. The perfect Kaiju."
