Granted, the region starts on a bad foot with those starters and the early route mons, first impressions are everything after all. But it picks up so strongly at the forest and the desert and the region is filled with so many gems.
I think a lot of people soured on their first experiences/preconceptions and never gave the region a second chance because they remained so fixated on its black sheeps (the icecream, the monkeys...), which every gen has. Something similar happened to me with DPPt and the players returning to the series throwing excessive hate at gen3, but eventually I came around and nowadays I love Sinnoh.

I mean, this is the generation that gave us Volcarona, Whimsicott, Reuniclus, Chandelure, Galvantula, Beheeyem, Krookodile, Sigilyph, Golurk, Eelektross, Leavanny, Excadrill... to name some. But looking at the usual opinions thrown around you'd think there's only 2 semi-decen designs at best and the rest is ALL pure shit.

Yeah, crits are the reason I went extra grimmy and put Substitute on the little guy as soon as I got the TM. I had used Whimsicott in a vanilla run before but with Gigadrain instead, and it got bypassed quite a few times because half the fights carry high crit moves in the endgame for some reason.

Even evolved the mon is a bit underwhelming imo: it's a slow Psychic type meant to be used with Analytic, but it just doesn't have the defenses for this to work properly.
Shame because I love the design.

How did you not keep Cinccino around for the E4+bosses fights though? Didn't it have Technician?
Because if it had it, that thing is fucking broken and probably the second best pre-postgame mon after Excadrill in BW.
