Also consider that, at least in the anime, most pokémon show no long-term mental trauma or crippling after being in so many fights. They can also get right back up after being healed and they seem plenty eager with no hard feeling towards their owners.
If this wasn’t the case then I’d agree that Pokémon is pretty dark but given how the anime shows that a) the pokemon love it, and b)they’re usually able to get right back up with no mental scars after every KO, I’d say that’s not the case.
