I only prefer Magnemite because of nostalgia, but Klink is cute and awesome too.
I also think Voltorb and Electrode are neat.
Garbodor is a fun concept and reminds me of Muk.
Zekrom is a clusterfuck of badassery and lightning rolled into a Pokemon.
Kyurem and both of its forms are beautiful and fucking amazing.
Mewtwo has an amazing origin and looks killer.
I even like Pidgeot and (male) Unfezant. Their designs, though. I'd never take them out of the box.
It doesn't matter which Gen had the most good or bad designs. It doesn't matter how many "furshit" or "overdesigned" Pokemon are in a single Gen. It just doesn't matter. Look at all Pokemon as Pokemon. If you genuinely prefer an 8bit Pokedex of 151, go ahead and be a Genwunner. You are allowed to have your own opinion, because it is educated. On the other hand, if you only say newer Gens are lame because A) Muh nostalgia, B) You haven't played them, or C) You are a faggot, get the fuck out.
If you have played newer games and genuinely like the quality, designs and Generations overall, you're fine. If you only say you like everything just because it's Pokemon, you're also a faggot, not a true fan. A true fan can pinpoint weak designs and downsides of Pokemon.
