I played through the games these past two weeks and in my opinion it's Black/White > Platinum > HGSS > Black/White 2.
>BW
Fun game and short enough to not drag while also being long enough to actually have some fun and get into it. No(or not much?) old Pokemon which was cool for once, but would probably be annoying if every gen did that. Post game has a few more towns and the legendaries which is ok I guess. I didn't care too much.
>Platinum
Great game. Kinda slow here and there, so worse to me than BW. Would still recommend though. Very cool Pokemon, the story is kind of weird, but I guess you can't really complain about that. Nothing after beating the league is worth mentioning.
>HGSS
I though this would be my fav, because of nostalgia googles, but it's kind of a bore. Following Pokemon is nice, but I forget about it after a few first Pokemon changes. If you consider Kanto postgame, the postgame is massive, but I do not. The real end of the main story seems to be when you defeat Red and the credits roll again. The levels of the pokemon of the trainers are fucked EVERYWHERE which fucks up your own Pokemon's level due to barebones exp. It does make sense, because they want to keep you low and go through two regions, but even then Kanto was more of a boss rush than an actual region and Johto was way too short. Not a good game.
>BW2
This is actually as good as Platinum, but I have to rank it last because I played it right after BW. It was nice to see so many characters again after 2 years and there are countless changes and yet like half the map being the same places I just went through in BW really turned me off hard even though it makes sense. These sequels would have been cooler in another gen, but marketingwise I understand that's retarded and a remake makes more sense, so Gamefreak did the right decision and yet I could not enjoy them much. Probably kino if you don't play BW right before or have a long ass break between them.
How do you rate/rank them?
