After gen 2, Pokémon started getting over-designed, especially legendaries. Now, this doesn’t make them inheriently bad, but looking at say Solgaleo, Zekrom, or Hoopa-U, there’s just so much unnecessariness that’s going on.
But then there’s darkrai. It has a simple but effective design that sets the tone for its lore so well. It lends itself to very cool fan-art that’s burton-esque and unique from other mons, and it’s design lead to very cool moments in its movie, which i’d say is one of the better ones.
tl;dr darkrai isn’t overdesigned and looks sleek
