This little guy. The first time I played was red. It was in Japanese because my dad only remembered that it was a Japanese game, so he went to Japantown to get it like an idiot. I was only 7 years old and reeally had no idea how the game worked since I couldn't understand anything. I caught him because *puppy*, and was perfectly happy.
Then I got to cinnabar. And Arcanine. I figured out that he must evolve somehow like my Squirtle. So I leveled him up. Higher. And higher. And he never evolved. I got to 80-something, and decided he must not evolve, there was just a cooler dog somewhere!
I searched forever, and couldn't find one. So I re-decided he must need to be level 100! Then I get super dog!
I got to level 100, and was so sad he didn't evolve and I thought he hated me. I cried and never beat the elite four. My brother beat it for me, but I would never touch pokemon red again.
The story kinda comes 'round though. My brother bought me fire red when I got accepted into an advanced high school. He traded whatever starter he picked for me with his level 100 Arcanine. Totally teared up.
