>>55827363There wasn't really much of a broad consensus that cared when RS showed up if we're talking the general masses, most of the Pokemania kids who were now beginning to enter their teen years got over Pokemania's decay and got hooked on some other franchise like Star Wars, Yu-Gi-Oh or Harry Potter for the supernatural fans, and/or what the PS2 library offered in general.
The ones who stuck with and played Gameboy Pokemon that then tried RS were mixed, with some of the diehards being unsurprisingly disappointed that they were unable to bring their monsters out of GSC after the precedent was first set with time machine trading. Some got over it eventually, some were disillusioned when FRLG were announced and was basically "buy the same shit you bought a few years ago to get your buddies from back then again", some are still spiteful for the lack of transfer capability to this day and that feeling's only grown stronger in recent time now that we're in the turbulent point that Gens 1-7 will eventually be totally cut off from everything that's currently covered by HOME.
Some places had those real douchebag kids that took advantage of Pokemon's fall from grace to bully others naturally, but that was more a symptom of consolewars since the PS2 was completely blowing Nintendo the fuck out at the time thanks to its library of games that appealed to older youth and young adults while the GameCube was more of the usual kiddie stuff that was quickly becoming synonymous with Nintendo's brand now that Sony had successfully established Playstation as the platform for older demographics.
