Never had any siblings to play the game with when I first got Red for my birthday, so it was just me on this Pokemon adventure up until Diamond and Pearl, when my friends joined me. We got different starters and traded each other starter eggs, and we would battle regularly, it was loads of fun. But after that gen, it was just me again.
My bf got Pokemon X when I got Y, in our attempt to play it together, but Pokemon was never his thing and he never finished. Incidentally that was the last generation I truly enjoyed. I guess I'm one of the only autists around here that genuinely enjoyed X/Y and constantly replayed it.
I could barely finish Sun, it just didn't feel the same. I don't know if it was because I'm outgrowing the franchise, or because of the direction they're taking the games, but I haven't even replayed it once. I stupidly got Ultra Sun to try and get back into it, since I heard the story was marginally better and it was slightly harder, but I still haven't finished my first playthrough. I may not ever, but I still look very fondly back on all the games I've played.
