It's actually kind of impressive how school completely and utterly destroys any and all interest in literally everything. Reading? Chore. Writing? Chore. Any kind of exercise or team game? Just another place where a child can be humiliated and associate the very act with unhappiness. Showing any kind of passion for anything that steps even an inch outside what people commonly accept? The greatest evil of all according to all of the other students.
It's no wonder people hide behind irony nowadays.
