What you're saying is true, but movies have no input from you so it's not like the games where raising your own team and battling opponents is a huge part of why people like it. The story is pretty much all it has to stand on. Well that plus pretty animation which they usually have covered.
It'd be nice to have a movie with a some heart to it though. I mean they do kinda try that but usually it's so shallow, even for a kid's movie.
Can we have a moment like pic related in one of the movies? Like, have the whole movie build up to it, not just have Ash or Pikachu conveniently die for no reason at the end to get brought back 5 seconds later.
I know the Lucario movie did it pretty well but that's just one movie.
