I miss OS Ash's sense of humor, sarcasm, boastfulness, mischievousness, competitiveness, temper and snark.

Both XY and S/M Ash feel like a generic bland cardboard with no personality that just following the basic traits of common standard protagonist. Because of this, he does not stand out as a character anymore.

Nope since Ash from DP, BW, XY and S/M are different. He feel completely different character than the original Ash.

Honestly Ash's biggest flaw on XY and S/M series is that he acts too nice. This is one flaw that remain consistent even though original Ash wasn't that nice. Pic related is an example for this. I wish the next series will have a serious mature Ash who's not extremely nice or extremely rude

FYI: Experience and competence has nothing to do with being so nice. There are lot of people that are mature and smart but not extremely nice like XY Ash.

The anime would have been much better if Ash remained snarky and sassy as before. The main reason BW Ash failed because he wasn't nearly as snarky as OS Ash, he was just stupider and dumber version of DP Ash. Fans want Ash's snark and sass back, not his stupidity.
