>>32439320>why was it popular early on and died out completely by now?>Could say the fad died out, but why so?Because it was a fad. Like every fad, it died, and everyone who played it only because it was "the hip, cool, and popular" thing to do dropped it, which was, to no surprise, at least 70% of the game's launch fanbase. The exact same thing happened with Pokemon's main series. Pokemon Go didn't last as long because nowadays people have such shitty attention spans. That, and it's a shitty (as in, almost barren of content) game on a platform loaded with literally millions of other free to play games that not only have far more content, but reward players much more for their time invested.
>No one is really out there playing it.If you live in bumfuck nowhere, maybe. I spent a single day at the local beach a month ago and I met six other Pokemon Go players; I wasn't even actively searching for them.
>The pokespots that used to be lured nearly 24/7 never see luresBecause people learned that Lure Models suck and aren't worth the coins needed to spend on them. You only get so many, and a lot of people who were playing before February of 2017 spent them all during the Valentine's event.
>I blame level 37+ botters shitting all over the gyms.Botters only target quiet areas with little to no activity. That way, their bot can focus on other things like catching perfect Pokemon, leveling up, and minmaxing their inventory. Urban settings are relatively untouched by cheaters due to just how many players there are. You ever been to NYC? The place is a battleground in a never-ending gym war..
