>>57642999Even stranger: Squirtle learned Bubble before level 10 and then Water Gun after, but then inexplicably in Gens 6 and 7 it was switched so it learned Water Gun first and then Bubble after level 10 before Bubble was completely removed from the games (and its movepool) starting in Gen 8. And during all that time, nearly every other Water starter just learned Water Gun before level 10 as their first STAB. The only exception to that is Froakie who ONLY learned Bubble -- at least until generation 9, where that move got replaced by, you guessed it, Water Gun! And it's extremely weird when you consider a few things, like how Popplio never learned Bubble while the move still existed (since that is kind of its gimmick) OR that they actually increased the power of Bubble in Gen 6 to match Water Gun's base power specifically so Froakie could have it as its early STAB over Water Gun. Bubble is also arguably the better move in that scenario too because it hits multiple targets and has a secondary effect! And this doesn't even scratch the surface of how they've tweaked the level up sets for all the Grass type starters...
