Ash throws away all his Pokémon, throws away all his friends, and reverts to the competence of a beginning trainer with a Level 5 Pikachu every season.
Only the meta matters in the Pokémon anime at this point, and this season is doomed to have nothing of importance in it whatsoever because Ash is literally doing nothing during it besides fuck around in slice-of-life scenarios.
