Better than anything before or after, it's IMO what the anime should always try to be, the perfect mix of kid-teen-adult(there's a Japanese name for this). Paul is the greatest rival Ash ever had not only in terms of attitude and character but also in terms of ideology, he really made Ash think about how he battles and thinks as a trainer. The relationship between Ash and Dawn is also really cute, they have the best relationship out of any paring in the series and help each other on many levels physical, mental, and emotional I think they are the best couple in the series and I am glad to see how they continued to keep their relationship in further series and further.
Team Galactic is one of the best evil teams we have gotten in the anime betting old TR and maybe rivaling TF. TG feels like an ever-present threat throughout the series especially with the character of Hunter J who is a character type we have never seen before, she's really great.
TR(JJM) has great development through DP as well getting some great emotional moments through the series.
It was also great to see Brock get lots of love in DP he always felt sidelined in others getting pushed to the back.
The filler eps are the things that most people complain about, there are not the best eps but are still fun non the less.
