Something to point out, Digimon have 6 stages of evolution
Training I/Fresh (Baby I in Japanese)
Training II/In-Training (Baby II)
Rookie (Child)
Champion (Adult)
Ultimate (Perfect)
Mega (Ultimate)
If we were to take a 3 stage Pokemon, a base stage (non-evolved first form) Pokemon would roughly be around the Rookie level for Digimon
A second stage is pretty irrelevant in this discussion, as a Champion level Digimon is so much of a jump in power that from a Rookie there's no way anything below a second stage (fully evolved) Pokemon would in theory stand a chance
By the time a Digimon reaches its Ultimate level, you'd have to low ball the fuck out of them for stuff like legendary Pokemon and Mega Evolution to stand a chance, while also high balling the fuck out of Pokemon to even believe they can win, there is extreme levels of copium at this point
By the Mega level, no amounts of cope really saves Pokemon from standing any chance against Digimon
This is not going into many Digimon running on anime logic have powered up states or fusions, and powered up fusions from their Mega level
The funny thing is, Digimon also originally started off with Ultimate as their highest evolution level, Mega was made a year later (1998) in the original V-Pet devices the series was made for, so if that didn't happen, maybe you could argue Pokemon could stand a chance, but as it stands, no
