She was my first pokemon on my first crystal save. I never had gameboy of my own, so being able to borrow my cousins after she got advanced was pretty much the next best thing. Me and Feraligatr had great adventure through Johto and Kanto, facing it all and conquering gyms, league and finally mt. Silver together with other good pokemon friends we had made on our way to be the very best we can be. She was my first level 100 pokemon, and naturally, totally awesome. We parted ways when I had to return the GB and game, but my team and especially she were since then one of the best pokemon related memories in my heart.
Years went by, and I forgot pokemon for a while, until my new roommate got me back by suggesting that I could buy Black since she was gonna buy White. After having good time with traveling through Unova, one day I was window shopping at videogame store and noticed cheap due being secondhand copy of SoulSilver sitting on shelf. I thought "why the hell not" and left the store with my SoulSilver, having no idea how small yet heartwarming consequences that impulse purchase could have.
I was already pretty high on my nostalgia fix, when I was once again standing there at Elm's lab, choosing starter. Remembering my old Feraligatr and her two sons I had trained, I went with Totodile. I guess I was expecting it to be male, just because I knew starters have male dominant gender ratio - yet, when I saw that he was actually she, on my first save of new Johto based game, I had this weirdest yet happy, and definitely superstitious feeling that through time and space somehow my old Feraligator had come back to me to relive our journey through Johto once again.
That SoulSilver run remains me favourite run I've ever done. I tried almost obsessively replicate rest of my crystal team, but it was all worth it, so much. At present my Feraligatr and rest or the SoulSilver team are on my Black cart, waiting for bank and new adventures at Kalos.
