Unreasonable things like those completely toss out Gardevoir's canon design and certainly wouldn't be considered a simple artistic depiction. The problem is that you're comparing a relatively small change like changing Mawile's mouth-like horns to an actual mouth to extreme worst-case scenario changes that might as well not even be a Pokemon - they don't compare at all.
I'm not saying that your OC is near that tier, but still, drawing Mawile's jaw as a functioning mouth isn't changing the canon design that badly. It's like giving a Gardevoir slightly defined feet or only drawing it with two ear spikes, It's still close enough to be a Gardevoir, and small changes like that are nothing to get overly annoyed about.
Apologies for posting Gardevoir in a Mawile threadAll I'm trying to say is don't get annoyed by people drawing or liking things slightly different than you. Just because it deviates from canon in a way you don't like doesn't mean it's not a Mawile. Not all art is drawn to abide by your tastes either, some people LIKE the idea of the jaw being a mouth. Just because someone drew the jaw as a mouth doesn't mean you can't ignore it and enjoy pictures you like. It's fine to dislike something, but you sound like you're trying to say "No one should draw Mawile like this because I don't like it". Especially seeing as Pokemon only have two colourations by canon, and you're drawing your own with logic that isn't canon.
You'd think as an artist yourself, you'd understand this.
