This is what the average person thinks of Pokemon, and this is taken from a gif of Eevees sniffing each other's asses. The construction of Pokemon is so clusterfucked that you can literally show people a gif of Pokemon sniffing each other's asses, and you'll still see them talking about how they're above the level of mere beasts.

What I'm saying is that they're not depicted in a way to make the viewer see them the same way they see real world pets, which is what you're claiming. You're saying that aside from all the magical stuff, they're supposed to be seen in the same way as real pets. But with the inclusion of scenes like those, that's not how people are going to see Pokemon. They're going to see Pokemon as something without a real world analogue, and judging by picrel, that's exactly how things have turned out.

Tajiri's vision is dead. Gamefreak failed. They failed because they're lazy. They failed because they're incompetent. They failed because they thought they could make creatures which act, often even physically look, almost human, and then magically make that not matter by occasionally showing them eating from dog bowls. Tajiri's vision is dead because of them. And you're a bootlicker who can't accept they fucked everything up.

Like half the fanbase thinks Pokemon are supposed to be unironically sapient creatures which are just animalistic. It's not overthinking, the writers are just bad. Even way back when Shudo was writing for the anime, he admitted that he deeply anthropomorphized the creatures for the sake of making things easier to write. Turns out you can't do that when the series focuses heavily on the nature of the creatures, and their relationship to humanity and the natural world. It confuses the viewers, understandably. That's why so many people interpret the creatures like this. The writers just aren't very good.
