I actually think that thinking a Pokémon looks like shit just because it's not conventionally cute or cool is a bad way to criticize a design. And, if you only care about them as flat images, I even saw fanarts and TCG cards of these two that make them incredibly cool, so they could be cool if they were shown like they look on these more often. Maybe would be enough with a few 3D model edits like the ones Blastoise model desperately needs.
