>>52816250>didn't know there were other variations than just mute autist and pixiv pretty boyEdgy Red has a fair amount of crossover with pretty boy, the glowing red eyes really help imply he has some special powers beyond just owning a roster of monsters. Cue the art and videos that imply Red IS the monster and the pretty face is only a facade slapped over a desire for stronger opponents that don't exist, woe is him. You also have the Red interacting with Giovanni/Sakaki art which varies between mute autist ship, edgy scary child ship, and very rarely "Red is now Silver's long lost brother or something". This exists separate from PokeSpe Red who gets shipped hard with Giovanni, although sometimes you get Giovanni flanked on either side by autist Red and PokeSpe Red, because bothering the old man with nosy lost children is fun. PokeSpe Red is a brash genki boy and enthusiastically attempts to interpret a mute Red's expressions and gestures, meaning you get quite a dynamic from multiplying your Reds. FireRed is usually like a milder PokeSpe Red.
>What's your personal take on what Red was up to in GSC?Pretty close to a few doujins really, I think I was influenced by old fanart of him cave camping. The guy became champion and was expected to hang around, speak to the press, and face challengers, but he's a socially awkward weirdo who prefers the company of pokemon, so he not so much runs from that responsibility but up and wanders before anyone can catch him. Mt Silver has terrible weather conditions which makes it a good hiding spot as it's difficult for people to follow him. I think there's some guilt in his mind though, because he chooses a mountain not far from the league, and he reacts to anyone who can make it up there as a worthy opponent, so he hasn't completely abandoned the duty he's been given.
The edgy ver of this is he's disappointed that even Lance and Green/Blue can't bring him down so he runs to somewhere inhospitable and waits for a real fight.
