If you put a banana above a ladder in a room then add some monkeys to the room, then proceed to blast all 5 with water when any single one reached for the banana they would beat up any new monkey introduced who attempted to go for the banana. If you repeated this enough times, replacing the original monkeys with new ones, eventually the four monkeys who were beaten up with no knowledge of why other then don't touch the banana will beat up the fifth replacement monkey for that reason. In the case of current /vp/ though, it's a situation where 4 of the original monkeys are removed and one original remains. The 4 new monkeys are told, don't do this. They do it anyway, and because the water is no longer working they think they are right. In this situation the monkeys are the posters, the banana is shit posting, and the water is good original content. Occasionally the water gets working again and a monkey reaching for the banana will get sprayed but they don't get flak for it because none of the other monkeys got sprayed.
