It was something legit new and the stuff it tried to do at least made it feel livable. Hated the clear favor of 'focus on the OP mons only that can't go wrong'. Then, then came ORAS. I hated how restricted it felt, there were no changes that really mattered. THe only salvaged shit were Mega Lopunny and Mega Audino. There's no super big cities like Kalos, no real anything like Kalos. Kalos at least tried despite being a pushover.
Then came 7. At first I was excited again, exploring all the new content and great things about it. Then USUM happened. NOthing changed. Nothing literally changed, and Necrozma? Why didn't you just give it a full form to start with? You already broke the game in X/Y and ORAS with mega legendaries, did you suddenly decide to try and slap on duct tape to a broken dam hole?
I have sworn several times in the past month as a precaution. That I would not buy anymore if Gen VIII aren't spectacular from the get-go. I've never seen a company that says to NOT have expectations for a fucking game. EA, Activision, they at least try to believe in their shitty products no matter how scumfuck they are. GameFreak saying 'don't get your hopes too high' while having the money the latter two could only dream of is a fucking sick joke.
Generation 6. Then directly after, Generation 7 killed it for me for good. They got one more shot left, after that I have Digimon and other games to play. Even if I still get the urge, there's Showdown and just seeing it all through YT vids and sites like Serebii's outdated bullshit.
