The only reason why fans of Gens 6+ desperately want to group Gen 5 with them as the "Nu/Bad Gens", because they have a "Crabs in a Bucket" mentality. If their favorite gens can't be considered "good", even after all of the years that have past, then other fan-favorite gens can't.
It usually starts with dragging down Gen 5, but then you start to see fags saying, "Gens 3+ is Nu-gen! Only Gen 1 and 2 are good!". Afterwards, you see larping Genwunners saying, "Only Gen 1 was good! Everything else is soulless!" And lastly, you see one of THOSE fags that are like "Pokemon was never good, a-anyway! I'm only here to coom/shitpost." This is how far they will go to discredit everything else in the franchise just to not be left behind in the bucket. But even after all the years, the general opinion of this fanbase remains the same: Gen 5 was the last good gen.
