Dad's Old Rod: An Old Rod you get from your mother after meeting certain conditions, as long as you haven't gotten the one from the Fishing Guru yet. Its name is just Old Rod on the Key Items list, and the Fishing Guru won't give you his if you already have this, but the description is different from the Guru's Old Rod: "An old fishing rod that belonged to your father when he was your age." If you're using the Guru's Old Rod, you're guaranteed to land a L5 Magikarp every time you toss it in. If you're using Dad's Old Rod, however, you have a 50% chance of "Not even a nibble," a 25% chance of Magikarp, and a 12.5% chance each of one of two different Pokemon for each fishing environment, and one of the 12.5% slots is different based on which game version you're playing (because GF has to make their money, you know). Levels vary between 2 and 7.
