I mean, there is no denying that a ton of Pokemon mirror Ultraman's monster-of-the-week in their designs, but here we have a design that has to be rooted within the family he was intended for. I assume GF went with the common essence of J-pop hero in Gallade's case, rather than making him after a specific part of that genre. If the source was limited to a single starting point, we wouldn't be arguing how Gallade is supposed to be a knight/paladin/roman soldier.
