Middle point for Gen 3 is Colosseum. My peak enjoyment was D/P, despite all of its flaws. The Pokemon craze had died out prior and it was cool to actually be able to battle/trade/chill with people offline about it. The online factor was also pretty sweet.
My HGSS experiences took a hit as a result of that height since it ended up being exclusively an offline experience. By Gen 5, I had burned out. I didn't play Black 2 until right before jumping into X. Black 2 failed to make any real waves, but X got me back into loving Pokemon all over again.
I don't hate any of the games.
