AND clearly took the anime personality and went with it, though I'm not really sure what they're pulling Dawn's personality from given almost every over characterization is based of some previous character trait across the canon material. Blue is hyper obsessed with being the best and has an inferiority complex given some of his interactions with Oak from Red and Blue. Hilbert's a social recluse that's only interested in pokemon battling with Hilda being his wrangler from special etc. It's clearing zoning in one some kind of inferiority thing for each character that can then be resolved over the course of the game by doing their route, which is pretty par the course for a VN.
