The great irony of people being angry about Black and White locking the player into the regional Dex until the post game is that at least all of the Pokemon were obtainable. Never would they have imagined that after six or so years of Generation 1 nostalgia pandering that half of the Pokedex would be removed from the code entirely.
I strongly believe that Black and White was the great turning point of the franchise, where Pokemon could have either kept getting better or declined into what it is now.
