>>20060676It's a meritocratic vote in OU. If you want to vote on how their metagame evolves, you prove you know what you're talking about by getting the required rating. Also, anyone can discuss the bans. If you're able to give a good assessment of a proposed ban, there's a very real possibility it will sway some of the voters even if you can't get the reqs. So if the council wanted to ban something like Manaphy, people would probably slap them back down with their votes and tell them to stop wasting everyone's time. Also, all of the proposed bans get discussed in the badge holder forums before they get pushed to the general forums, so that Manaphy ban would never even reach the people shitposting on vp.
Also, the OU metagame is magnitudes more balanced than it was at the beginning of the gen, when it resembled cartridge play. So please, keep telling me how evil Smogon is.
