If anything, it's the fandom side (like all fandoms do) that focuses on the memey shit, but the games themselves just keep getting better and better, with interesting stories, engaging gameplay, breathtaking graphics, an absurd amount of side content, etc. Even its inherent silly segments are all due to Japanese comedy and perfectly blend in, it wasn't influenced by dumb memes like you can argue Pokemon was.
So basically, retards can keep jerking it to their baka mitai memes for all I care, it doesn't have any effect whatsoever on the actual games and that's what matters.
